Cecília Calado

When I was a child I wanted to speak all languages, not only Portuguese. Actually, I wanted to be God, but I was told that seat had already been taken. So, I learned quite a few languages but had to pay for that obviously.

I tend to get sick when I don’t like a job, which happens almost all the time. It took me a long time to understand that despite my love of languages I was not destined to be a Computational Linguist, but a writer instead.

I already have a couple of novels in Portuguese, but the Nobel Prize still alludes me.

I was born in Lisbon, Portugal (yeah, Madonna lives there now), but I moved to Barcelona, Spain many years ago. That’s where I met our Directress when we were young and had no wrinkles!
