As someone with a Ph.D., I’ve been accused of making even the simple complicated. I make critical assessments of the virtues of Puffy vs. Crunchy Cheetos. The latter is superior…
Bethany Grace Howe
Bethany Grace Howe is a transgender woman, who upon completing her transition as a doctoral student now finds herself up to her ears in debt, misogyny, and people who think she’s pushy for daring to use the prefix “Dr.” before her name. A freelance writer, she actively embraces the desire to “lance” transphobia, ignorance, and those have no ability to escape their own cisnormativity and adherence to gender stereotypes. (She is less committed to the “free” part of her writing career, though that, too, seems fairly active in her life.) In her free time, she’s intentionally raising her daughter to be a social justice warrior who thinks calling her daddy “she” is perfectly normal, even when in a public restroom in Mississippi.

It’s never been surprising to me that there’s a “Pink Tax.” We’re in a world that loves to gender – and often misgender – everything. Who can forget Bic’s classic…
